Millard is proud to be the only district in Nebraska offering a kindergarten through 12th grade International Baccalaureate experience. The International Baccalaureate Organization is an international educational foundationÌýfounded in 1968 in Geneva, Switzerland. It was originally established to provide a common curricular framework forÌýstudents of diplomats and military personnel. The program is designed to challenge students and to encourage growth in both personal and academic achievement. Students will:

• Be encouraged to think independently and drive their own learning.
• Take part in programsÌýof education that can lead them to some of the highest ranking universities around the world.
• Become more culturally awareÌýthrough the development of a second language.
• Be able to engage with people in an increasingly globalized, rapidly changing world.

The International Baccalaureate® Mission

• International Baccalaureate, or IB as it is commonly called,Ìýaims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
• To this end, the organization works with schools, governments, and international organizations to develop challenging programs of international education and rigorous assessment.
• These programs encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate,Ìýlifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
